Southwestern engraved sterling silver gold horse spur DC 5 bolo tie
    by
master-silversmith Vic Cedarstaff, marked "sterling" and picto-hallmarked by Vic. This outstanding bolo tie showcases a skillfully crafted gold wash horse in the center of the 3D spur attached to the engraved bolo slide. The initials DC with the number 5 were placed right over the horse, and also in gold wash. The triangular bolo slide that folds back to hold the cord was allegedly designed, and patented by Victor Emanuel Cedarstaff. Vic is known for having invented the bolo tie in the late 1940s, although sterling silver bolo slides and tips have been often linked to the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi silversmiths. This collectible piece weighs a total of 76.8 grams. The slide is approximately 1 1/2" tall, by almost 1 7/8" wide, at its widest. The roughly 39" long brown or tan cord (including the 2 1/2" heavy-gauge tips) is gently used and has only a single scuff below the slide. The weaving is nice and tight. Very nice craftsmanship and design by Cedarstaff!  Custom made I'm sure. He also used 10K gold for most of his gold work. Although this is not marked as such, but come to think of it I didn't look that close.
