SILVER-PLATED VINTAGE COUNTESS SILENT BUTLER BY INTERNATIONAL SILVER

Description

This elegant silent butler, in the wonderful Countess pattern by International Silver, is hinged, in a clam shell shape, with a black wooden handle. Silver-plated hollowware of substantial weight. The International Silver Company of Meriden, Connecticut, was founded as a corporation in 1898, and this mid-century modern piece dates to about 1940/1950. The silent butler was intended to collect crumbs from the table or ashes from ash trays. This piece measures about 8½” across, 11” in length, and 1¼” in height. Marked “Countess [logo for company] International Silver Company. 6223.” Very good condition: slight scratching and scuffing from wear, but no dents, bends, discoloration, repairs, or other cosmetic/structural issues. Coming from a private collection. Both functional and beautiful! Non-smoking household.
