Pull-off Lid
For Your Vintage Muffineer Sugar Shakers Collection-SilverPlateMuffineer2
Details
Description:
A beautiful 4 1/8" tall silver plate sugar shaker or muffineer. This metal shaker has a nice shapely form and a pull-off lid or top. The shaker has round pedestal foot which rises in a shapely way (pear shaped) to the top. The edge of the top is rolled and smooth on the inside to allow a lid or perforated top to tightly fit within it. The shaker is made of silver-plated metal as is the lid. The lid has longitudinal curved openings with a small hole in the middle in a repeating pattern and a finial on top. Of course, these openings are there to shake the powdered sugar out. A very nice vintage piece, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date:
Uncertain but most likely mid to late 20th century, could be earlier. The piece was made in Sheffield England.
Origin:
Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size:
The muffineer is ~7 1/8" tall to the top of the finial, ~2 1/8" in diameter at the base and weighs about 6 ounces.
Maker:
Unknown.
Marks:
Stamped "MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND" on the bottom. There are also the letters FT and VT scratched on the bottom.
Condition:
This shaker is in good condition. It has some minor scratches to the surface and is tarnished throughout. It has no breaks, no repairs and no observable dings. The piece is in truly good overall condition and could use a good cleaning or polishing to bring out its full beauty. The lid fits tightly into the top as it should. Please see photos for additional condition information and to appreciate the piece's beauty.
