    Description

    We are offering for your consideration an exquisite, 1800's Reed & Barton silver plated and glass compote that bears the pattern number, “3595.” Also noted was that the piece was, “Made and Manufactured by Reed &Barton” meaning it was their piece from start to finish in an age when other companies bought blanks from Reed & Barton and placed their name on them. The piece measures 15 inches high with the handle up, 8inches with the handle down and 5 inches in diameter at the pedestal base. The frosted and etched glass insert is 9 inches in diameter. The silver plated compote has a striking Aesthetic Period design on the top and bottom rims of flowers, birds and other intricate designs against a chased background. The glass insert is held into place by bands of flowers attached to the top rim and base. A sweeping handle is topped with a striking open work finial. The base is marked with the name, “Morgan” indicating it was a treasured wedding or anniversary gift. One can just imagine the joy the couple felt upon receipt of this lovely gift. The glass insert is frosted and a cut to clear stylized berry and floral design had been etched into it. The piece is in
