    Description

    Paint 'N' Play "Hang-Up Train"
    phonograph
by A-H Industries of Coloma, Michigan.  Unusual phonograph designed to hang on a wall and play records vertically.  Four-speed phonograph operates on 16 rpm, 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, and 78 rpm.  Probably dates back to the early 1970s.  Phonograph and base unit are made of white plastic; box includes a package of paints so base can be custom painted by user and then fastened to a wall.  Base is designed to look like the engine of a locomotive, with the turntable/record acting as the front wheel of the train.
Unit has clearly never been removed from the original packaging, although someone unrolled the cord, probably to test whether the mechanism still operates.  Since the cord was already unrolled, I plugged it in and the turntable operates fine, although I did not attempt to play a record because the tone arm/needle was still in the original packaging.  Entire unit appears to be untouched except for the cord.  Box is in excellent condition.  Only blemish is some very light staining on the cover which does not affect the unit.
Orignal instructions and promotional brochure are inside the box.  According to the brochure, this unit is 23" long X 15" wide X 5" deep.  Brochure also pictures other products from A-H Industries, including the
    Electric Banana
    phonograph and the
    Pink Panther
    phonograph.
