Rare Late 1800s Tiffany Co Silverplate Adjustable Wine Bottle Holder Pourer
Presented is a wonderful antique Tiffany & Co silverplate wine bottle
holder, dating to the late 1800s. This is not your standard wine cradle that
sits on a table, this is a remarkable and indispensable bar tool intended as a
kind of handle, to make pouring wine easier as well as more stylish. The wine
bottle holder is adjustable, so it should fit any bottle within reason. The
piece is very well constructed and the adjusting mechanism is quite clever yet
simple, with a large butterfly type nut to tighten it securely once it is in
place. In our research, examples of this piece were very hard to find; only one,
and it was already sold. So this is a great opportunity to add this rare Tiffany
piece to your collection.
This piece is hallmarked with the Tiffany & Co maker's mark as well as
'silver-soldered EP' and a product number, 9634.
The wine bottle holder spans about 8 7/8 inches at the maximum and about 7
3/8 inches at the minimum (from the bottom of a wine bottle to the point where
it begins to narrow at the neck, is the corresponding measurement on a wine
bottle). The total length is 11 ¾, with the full extension, or about 10 1/8 at
the unextended length.
