RARE 1946 ADMIRAL 10/12" 78RPM RECORD PLAYER BAKELITE CASE 6RP48-3A1 PHONOGRAPH
RARE 1946 Admiral 10/12" 78RPM Record Player Bakelite Case 6RP48-3A1 Phonograph RC160 This is a 1946 Admiral multi-platter 10/12" 78rpm, Phonograph Model # 6RP48-3A1-MA ,with a beautiful complete Bakelite Mahogany case. It's especially rare because all bakelite components, not just the top and bottom case, but the speaker grill, the 10/12 platter drop mechanism, and the knobs are present and in good condition. The tone arm is does not have cartridge assembly and needle.  The platter even still has the original fabric finish. This piece was produced in 1946 and I believe the mechanisms are the same as the RC160 and RC200 record changers. It powers up, turntable spins, I don't know if it can perform record drop, and tone arm does engage. The motor runs and the turntable spins. When it powers up there is an extremely loud hum.   I'm therefore selling this AS-IS to someone for restoration to bring it up to perfect museum piece it can be. It measures 16 inches wide by 9 1/2 inches tall by 15 inches deep, and weighs 18 pounds.
