    Description

    This dramatic silver-plate mid century modern cigarette box was, I believe, used to offer cigarettes to passengers on Scandinavian Air Systems planes in the 1950's or 60's.  It is done in a great modernist style with striated sides and domed lid,  The lid has a band that was probably intended for a name or monogram that was never added.  It is heavily made with a strong piano hinge and a tight fitting lid.  The interior is done in unfinished mahogany and the interior of the lid has the logo of Scandinavian Air Systems (SAS).  The box is 7 3/8" x 4 3/4" x 2.5" (tall).  It is in great condition with no dents or other damage.  One of the interior wooden dividers is missing and there is a a bit of the SAS logo label missing (see photos). The box weighs 800 grams exactly.
