  • Condition: VERY GOOD - previously owned, used antique Pickle Castor - there is a flake type chip at the outside of the rim of the insert/jar and a few nicks on the edge, all covered by the lid. The silverplate frame has an unpolished, dark aged patina with no obvious plate wear noted - no missing or broken parts. Circa 1890's

    Description

    This is a very nice Victorian PICKLE CASTOR with a Cranberry IVT Art Glass Insert/Jar decorated all around the jar with stems of hand painted enamel flowers. It is presented in a footed silverplate frame with a fancy header of scrolls and lattice work. It is marked Meriden B. Company #281 - finished with a lovely embossed lid and period tongs. Measurements: JAR - 4" tall, 3.5" wide overall, 2.5" wide base. FRAME - 9.5" tall, 4.25" wide overall, tapered jar base is 2.5" wide. LID - 2.625" wide, 2.25" high. TONGS - 6.25" long.
