    Description

EARLY 19c French Silverplate PLAQUE Wire Work Handled Salt Baskets Cellar
EARLY 19c French Silverplate PLAQUE Wire Work Handled Salt Baskets Cellar
MAKER: I believe it's marked "JFV Plaque"
MATERIAL: This is Sheffield plate style French silverplate.  It predated electroplating and was made by layering silver and copper into ingots and then rolling or hammering it into thin sheets.
PIECE NAME: Possibly for serving salt. I'm not positive - it likely would have had glass inserts for the baskets.
    DIMENSIONS: 6 1/2" long by 3" and 7" tall.
CONDITION: A few spots of copper bleeding through but overall in great condition.  No dings, dents, deep scratches.
    MONOGRAMMED: No
