Antique Silverplate Bottle or Cruet Holder Coaster w/wooden base Unknown Marks.
This silverplate coaster is marked with three stamps, but I've been unable to identify any of them, which is unusual. There's a shield shape with a design on it that I can't identify, an unique crown and an X with three dots around it. See photo.
This small bottle holder or coaster is smaller than most. It would nicely hold a glass cruet, a beer bottle sized bottle or an aluminum can sized object, but not a regular bottle of wine.
It measures 3.25" across the base, 4.5" across at the widest point and 1.75" tall. The interior space is 2.75" wide, so nothing larger than that would fit in it.
It's decorated around the rim and pierced and decorated around the sides. It's very traditional looking. It has a wooden base that has three dark spots on the interior. They look like light surface burns.
On the decoration around the rim, it has been polished enough that you can seen glints of the copper under the plate, but it's pretty minor.
