From my wife's ever growing collection of European finds
This old dome is really quite beautiful.
Thanks to another eBayer, we were told that this beautiful old dome cover was manufactured by Matthew Boulton who invented silver plating.
The inside features 2 Boulton hallmarks of a Starburst or Sunflower (as shown in photos)
The Crest features a Coat of Arms shield surrounded by acanthus leaves and a rampant lion crest.
It is divided into quadrants. One featuring a honey bee, one quivers of arrows and the other two English Fitched Crosses in a single and a double.
We have not taken the time to research the family crest. It would be interesting to track it down. It really is a beautiful crest.
The dome was very darkly tarnished when my wife bought it. She liked it that way.
She did give it a light polish before listing it, but it needs another if you prefer it that way.
The very last photo shows the Crest before the polish
The inside of the dome is still darkly tarnished
