19th C. French Silver Plate on Copper Inkstand, Quill Pen Holder

This listing is for an unusual antique French silver plate inkstand with three quill pen holders dating to the last quarter of the 19th Century. The inkwell has a paneled round body with flat tray top. The tray top holds a lift top ink slot with open access to the bottom of the stand and three removable quill pen holders. There is a diamond engraved background on the tray top with the larger inkwell slot having a hinged cover. The cover has a rope border with engraved band and two other decorative bands encircling the small round button center. There is a vertical ribbed border around the outside of the tray top. The copper metal base is showing through the silver in all the raised areas of the design on the top of the tray and on the ribs on the lower section of the inkwell. The inkwell's cover hinge is tight and the cover opens and closes correctly.
Inkwell measures 2" high and about 2 1/2" in diameter. Weighs 245 grams.
This nice inkwell is in very good to excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being the wear to the silver exposing the copper base metal. This exposure of the copper on the raised areas of the top appears almost intentional and is very attractive. The wear to the ridges of the vertical side ribs is obviously from normal handling although it is unusually consistent throughout the entire bottom piece.
